We Badly Need Someone Up Front..

Recommended Posts

who can score goals.

El Bak and Yordi have only scored one goal between them since the start of the season. I don't think either of them have what we need right now, and I do think they will come good, but I think it is just too soon for them.

Loy has lost his confidence or fallen out of place with PH. I honestly believe that given the chance Loy will score goals, as he proved that last season he was capable of doing this, however his body language this year tells you everything you need to know about him.

To be honest, I think some of the under 20's might be a better options the way that some of them have been scoring goals (I know I know).

PH IMO should be using the money we got for Hemmings and Stewart to bring someone in, and we need to do it sooner than later as I fear the way we are playing right now, later might be too late and we could be drawn into a basement battle.

Strikers will score goals if we make them chances. At the moment we are creating next to nothing.

Unless a new striker can make chances for himself out of nothing I can't see much changing.

But I agree we need to bring someone in, just to freshen things up and give us a lift.

I thought we were decent at the back today but definitely no threat up front. As it stands, we can mix any of the four front players any way but there isn't a goal that amongst them as it stands. Unfortunately they is probably nobody around to fill the void in the short term. Really miss hemmings' ability to snatch a goal and Stewart's danger from the edge of the box.   Struggle to see us get anything but nil nil draws at best, at the moment

Do you think our issue is more to do with our midfield not creating chances for our forwards?

It is worrying when your strikers are only creating two chances in a game, regardless of who we are playing.

i agree , i think its lack of creativity from midfield. Our midfield rarely run at defenders and we've got hardly any chances coming in from the wing. It'll also help to have a big forward to hold the ball or win it in the air.

I think since Greg left it's become clear just how much he did for us - he created the majority of the chances for other players in addition to all those he made for himself.

As much as I rate McGowan, Ross and O'Hara, they aren't really doing much to help the strikers. El Bak looks like he will make chances for himself and others but he too is struggling, looking completely isolated at times.

Loy gets a lot of stick but he has been working off scraps recently. Make enough decent chances for him and he will become the striker we need.

The problem is that players like Stewart just don't grow on trees and will be very hard to replace without spending some money. However, even if we brought in someone who at least had some creativity in the middle of the park this could help our strikers, who has you say are feeding of scraps at the moment.

The other changes I feel need to happen is PH tactics, this defensive back passing while it helps retain possession, also means that we don't don't get forward as much.

The big difference this year is the defence. I think with Kerr, Holt, Gomis and O'Dea we could have a pretty decent back four, but we lack composure and creativity in the middle of the park and our midfield players need to step up the mark or we will be facing a very hard season.

Won't happen this season but midfield needs totally revamped. We need somebody that can run with the ball from the middle of the park and proper left and right midfielders.

Don't think this will happen, and we all know that PH prefers a diamond formation for the midfield hence why we will never have wide attacking midfield players.

I agree. I think the loss of GGH, for whatever reason, hasn't helped either. We lost both our creative sparks. Players of similar ability are extremely rare / expensive and we were fortunate to have 2. You wonder what might have been had we been able to keep Hemmings, Stewart and GGH after adding Gomis, O'Hara and Hateley (some may suggest 'Admin 3').

We have to get on with it though and with a solid back 4 we do have something to work with and build on.
