Mixed news for Dundee boss Hartley

Recommended Posts

There was mixed news on the injury front from Dundee boss Paul Hartley.

On the positive side, Tom Hateley has overcome his groin problem which saw him miss the narrow defeat by Celtic.

On the negative side, he has missed training this week due to illness but he will be given every chance to make the squad for Saturday’s game in Edinburgh against Hearts.

The manager explained: “Tom’s groin is OK.

“Unfortunately, though, he has an illness and hasn’t trained this week.

“He will be off until Thursday and then we will re-assess him.”

The news that Hateley’s groin problem has cleared will be a boost for the Dark Blues and it will be hoped he now makes a speedy recovery from his illness.

The midfielder went off in the second half of the Inverness game nearly three weeks ago, so it might be a big ask to start the match at Tynecastle, given he’ll only train for two days before the game.

Paul will also have to wait until Thursday to see how Craig Wighton is after being on his travels with Scotland U/21s.

He came on as a sub in their first game against Iceland in terrible conditions in Reykjavik last week when they lost 2-0.

The young Scots play Macedonia away tonight, so he will not be expected back at Dens until Thursday morning when his fitness will be checked.
