Just depends on what he wants from football now I suppose. If he's enjoying the club and life in general, he probably won't. If he is itching to get back into the top flight and get to the highest level as possible, he might see Dundee as a better bet. Hibs are very likely to win the league and if Falkirk navigated into a play off they would likely have United to come up against and then a top flight side with an advantage (the top flight side gets a rest heading into the games).

I must admit, Houston knows his stuff and I couldn't actually say much against him. The big positive he has is that he's a total wind up merchant and will piss off opposition clubs and make us hated.

Seems to me that if you think Houston can make this squad work and keep us up, why can't Hartley do it? Not having a go, genuinely interested in learning exactly what Hartley is doing wrong that houston could fix using the same players.

Hartley is his own worst enemy. Tactically inept, stubborn, unwilling to accept blame, arrogant etc etc.

He's had his chance and made a mess of it.

Abdul, What's he doing that's so tactically inept? seems to me that this is the core of the problem and I, for the life of me, can't see why he has been supported by his backroom staff if it is so clear what he is doing wrong. I'm not defending him, but I'd like some assurances from those who think he should go that the players he will leave us with are capable of getting us out of this hole if they were managed by the likes of Peter Houston.

That surely is the attraction for any potential new manager. That there is a team of good players and a willing support, who simply need a few tactical changes. Last season the loss of McPake and the arrival of O'Dea along with the loss of Kevin Thomson turned everything around. It wasn't a simple change in tactics - was it? There was a change in playing personnel too.

Maybe Hamilton and Partick should sack their manager and hire Houston. After all, their performances and results are as bad as ours and their fixture list hasn't been as bad.

Have they got more points than us? The answer is yes. While there results are not great they seem to be getting better performances from the players they have assembled and I'm sure that's on a greatly reduced budget to ours.

houston seems to do well but to be fair I think we could put Yogi Hughes in charge of us just now and he would get more out of the squad than Hartley us getting.

Cobra, after Wednesday, we'll have played every team once, while Partick will have played 10 of 11 opponents. How have our fixtures been worse? They've had to play the same teams and they're above us in the table.

The problems run deeper than having to play Aberdeen, Celtic, Hearts and StJ. After all, we'll have to play them all again soon, so should we expect nothing from those four games again?

cobra i know what you mean but those teams didnt earn nearly 1mill in transfers recently (doubt we'll see any of that money tho ) those teams are smaller in size and budget (presumably) hamilton especially are at the level they should be. We were given all the fanfare that we're going to be a progressive club and a 5 year plan to be more succesful, at the moment we're going backwards rapidly.

Your right that sacking a manager isnt always the answer, but a few have been questioning hartleys tactics selections for a while now(over a year)and hes doing nothing to change that opinion .We've lost 5 on the bounce but also against teams we've taken points off in the past, imo hartleys been taking us backwards for a long time but i dont claim to have any particular manager in mind who to replace him and thats the problem we have. In the last couple of sesons motherwell, partick and ross c have been where we are now and survived however we dont have the team for a revival, who's going to score the goals, and a manager who refuses to see his mistakes. Right now i'd put money on us going down with the current set up, maybe by the end of next week that might be different but i just cant see it.
