New boy Marcus Haber cleared to lead Dundee line

Recommended Posts

Dundee’s new signing Marcus Haber has been cleared to lead the line in tonight’s game against Partick after receiving international clearance.

The Dark Blues had been sweating on receiving the correct paperwork but the issues have been resolved, meaning the former St Johnstone striker will be available for the crunch clash at Dens.

That could see Haber handed his debut as the Dark Blues chase a victory that will move them off the foot of the Premiership table.

Boss Paul Hartley believes the big striker will bring a different dimension to the Dundee attack.

He said: “He adds a bit of strength and presence up front. He is somebody that scores goals in the box and I think we’ve missed that.

“Goals win you games and it’s something we have to find, not just the strikers, everyone has to chip in.”

The Dens boss urged the fans to stand by the team in this difficult period

Paul added: “Hopefully, the fans will give us their backing tonight and I’m sure they will.

“We have to accept criticism from the fans but, hopefully, they will stick with us.”

The Dee boss is expecting a difficult encounter and is aware of its magnitude.

He said: “I expect a tough game, we’re both down where we don’t want to be.

“I think every one is vital but it is a game at a time for us. Tonight is a big game.”

Mark O’Hara, who had a hernia operation yesterday, is expected to be missing for three weeks as is Faissal El Bakhtaoui, who has a calf strain.

Nicky Low is also out after having an injection on his ankle to clear up an existing problem. He will hopefully be back training by Friday.
