Midfield

This is our biggest problem period. It was clear as ever tonight as well. People seem to keep moaning about the defence passing side to side and back the way all the time, but the simple reason is because there is absolutely nobody in he midfield coming to collect the ball. On the odd occasion someone (usually McGowan) comes short to get the ball, he turns and there's nobody there, it's unbelievably mind blowing.

The game was still all to play for at the start of the second half tonight, yet we seemed to be set up in a 4-0-6 formation, and resulted to hopeless long balls up the park which just weren't working.Its clear that the problem with this team isn't so much the players in it IMO, it's the inability to hold their shape throughout the game. 

Until this is resolved I'm afraid the best we can hope for is a few 0-0's because we will never ever score a goal in a professional game of football playing like that.

When you have a lot of ordinary players, the last thing you need is a complicated formation and stupid tactics.

Exactly. As thoroughly ordinary as our players are, I have no doubt they're capable of shitehousing a few draws and the odd win with a no-nonsense 4-4-2.

Exactly how I saw it. Too many players hiding and not finding space to be available for a pass. 2nd goal was a perfect example of this (as well as utter fecklessness). Thistle always seemed to have a man spare looking for the ball and moved it around far quicker than we did. The least we can hope for is that the players know exactly what their job is. They seem absolutely clueless just now which is probably making them look even worse than they are. Can Hartley get them back to basics?.......
