Fir Park has been the home to Motherwell for over 100 years since 1895.

Despite having a capacity of 13,750, the stadium was once able to boast of filling the ground with 35,000 spectators in the 1930s.

The main stand at Fir Park was constructed in 1962 for a sum of £92,000 but due to a complaint from a house owner, it stopped the club from completing a full-length stand. The reason for the complaint was that it would restrict light getting into their garden thus lowering the value of the house!

The East Stand was converted to all-seating in 1991, a new two-tier South stand was built in 1993 and two-years later, the North stand was opened and that finished the stadium which you see in its present format.

David Turnbull’s wonder goal was all that separated both sides as Motherwell collected all three points to leave Dundee and also St Mirren firmly in the bottom two.

Darren O’Dea’s header in the early part of the match came off the bar and despite numerous penalty claims, the Dee were unable to find their first goal in four matches and their fifth straight defeat.

In spite of this, McIntyre was encouraged by what he had seen.

“The way we lost the ball before the goal was really disappointing but it was a lot more positive and a lot like I expect us to play in terms of doing our jobs and doing the ugly side of the game,” he said.
“We switched the play very well and that got us into wider areas, but it was just the final bit.
“It’s going to take them a wee while to get used to what I expect, the demands that are going to be placed on them every day, not just at the games. Slowly but surely, they are starting to get to grips with that.
“But, having said that, we need to pick up results as well because we don’t want to get detached. It’s important we get a result next week.”

Dundee continued their winning ways at Fir Park with a 5 - 1 win against a shell shocked Motherwell side.
Dundee took the lead from a Zak Jules' own-goal, a Marcus Haber double and one each from Mark O'Hara and Craig Wighton.
Louis Moult's goal for Well had briefly levelled the score at 1-1.

Stalemate at Fir Park as Motherwell and Dundee share points

Motherwell and Dundee lacked attacking inspiration in a goalless Ladbrokes Premiership contest at Fir Park.

The hosts dominated the first half without getting a shot on target and neither side carved out a real clear-cut chance during a more even second period.

Both sides have failed to win since the opening day of the season and neither did enough in the opposition box to justify victory.

Neil McCann started his reign as manager of Dundee with a huge 3-2 win over relegation rivals Dundee at Fir Park in the SPFL Ladbrokes Premiership. Mark O'Hara gave the visitors the lead while Marcus Haber grabbed a second-half double. Motherwell hit back through Louis Moult and Chris Cadden, but it wasn't enough.
