I have a few favourite bands & sadly most of them were from before my day! 

I was all for picking Dave Grohl here given he's the only decent drummer I think I've seen but then I had a last minute change of heart  and went for...

Cozy Powell springs to mind, Herman Rarebell is another, oh and Neil Peart. I can probably think of a few more, that was off the top of my head.

A topic close to my heart...

Yeah John Bonham is my fav with Kieth Moon. But Ginger Baker, Mitch Mitchel, Ian Paice and Neil Peart are all also superb drummers and I am sure a lot would say Neil Peart is arguably the most technically brilliant there has been.

But go back to Buddy Rich and Grene Kruper for the forefathers off all the drummers mentioned before and they are also truly great.
