Gellatly was a good owner. A kind man and a true Dee

I was a wee laddie but my old man didnae like him said he made the biggest mistake in the history of Dundee by letting Jim Mclean go across the road, then sold us to Angus Cook.

after the gellatys ,cook, drummond, dixon, marrs, gio ,melville ,d4life (who brought in  Scott Gardiner) the Americans have been by far the best owners of our club in the last 50 years.

Neither Di Stefano or Melville ever owned the club, the latter never even owned a share.

Peter & Jimmy had ambitions to catapult the club forward, which is what everyone cries out for here on a daily basis. It went south but at least they tried and potentially had they continued with Jocky (or anyone other than Ivano who fans still sing about now and again) and consolidated with a slow build it would have been a whole different landscape.

True onMcLean but hindsight is a great thing. Remember it took wee Jim around six years to make United decent

the biggest sale potential was Caballero but he was seriously crocked by two Dabs in ONE tackle.

was there that night, worst tackle I have witnessed - deliberate - the Utd lad mcdonald career also plummeted after that incident. Alex Smith at his best.

He came in from nowhere and hardly kicked a ball in pro football again. Hard not to take a cynical view of that incident.

The main reason for the failure to sell Bonetti era players was the collapse of the EFL TV deal which led to a considerable although temporary reduction in spending in the English championship and below.

A true Dee no doubt but he was Chairman when Davie White broke up the League Cup winning side far too soon and that was the start of the demise of which we have never really recovered. The club became a shambles in the second half of the 70s and it was under his watch unfortunately

Nelms brought in McPake, McIntyre and McGhee and attempted to bring in the much disliked Dodds, he also sacked managers after a period of what for us would equate to relative success. He's currently overseeing what's been a pretty calamitous summer after appointing a man who wasn't most people's 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice never mind 1st as JN has stated. He's not even a true Dee yet many are happy because he and his partner cover an annual financial shortfall. Gellatly made mistakes no doubt but we only know that with the benefit of hindsight, Jim McLean was far from an instant success across the road although what he did put them firmly on the map and left us trailing in their wake.

A true Dee or a Texan with little time for us?.🤔
