Sad news, but appreciate, he got a deserved mention by yourself on here John...

I picked up on this sad news early yesterday just as it was breaking, & intended passing it on here. But then (as happens) got caught up with other things.

Not so sure if his style was for everyone, but I always liked him & all the stuff he put out...There was a long documentary on him on some TV Channel (maybe a couple of years back) which highlighted his hard childhood at home & at school. And I think a lot of that hardship & pain he endured , especially in his very early years, was well reflected in his songs, personality, performances & his life experiences...

Music is subjective. and I've got a wide, varied taste.

But for me I agree he put out some really good stuff.

I recently found a recording of me commentating on a Dundee game. Must have been 11 or 12. It was hilariously awful.
