And what state will Dens be in by then? I canny even get hot water and soap in the Coxy. It’s a fully functioning building not just a monument.

Understand what your saying, but as part of the rent deal with Bennett Dundee FC have to maintain the stadium(yes there not done it very well) but it could be the same deal with foundation

Upkeep of the stadium alone would probably run into 100,s of thousands per year 🙄

Why would it be a treat?

I just don't think we should walk blindly into the owners walking away without a plan b.

Great point. Because let's face it, they will walk away if they can't get the new stadium.

I'm not too keen on having an attitude of  let's not do or say anything that might piss FPS off. A lot of Dundee fans seen to think that this isn't our club and it belongs of FPS. They may own the club but this is our club and without us there is no club!! Wouldn't be so bad if they were true to their word and there were actually building a new stadium. Lets not  forgot they they have also lied to us on a number of occasions now. The % of Dees who still think that a new stadium will be built must be under 5% now.

The reality is that even if they did actually build a new stadium (no sniggering at the back) we will still be in the same exact position we are now,  we wouldn't own the stadium.

I think they might see it as a threat if the fans invested in the stadium rather than simply handing the funds over to FPS to compensate them for the several millions they have put in or even as a contribution to the financing of the new stadium. The threat comes from what the fans choose not to do. Fans owning the stadium and FPS owning the business would set up a potentially unworkable situation. Despite what some might say, I don't see how the fans have earned the financial right to challenge the owners in this way. Without their financial support there simply would be no Dundee FC today. The fans maybe saved the day in years gone by, but that was too long ago and for too little money to have any impact today.

I don't really see it being a case that the society goes off on their own on infrastructure investment, I view it as a joint venture.

I think these efforts would naturally move concurrently with moving on long term agreements with the club on lease/company price that would be arranged near day one. The club would still have a fair bit of leverage on this and retain the power (and also likely charge more than going rate).

Of course the question to club is why but if a group met with a credible proposal to fundraise £100k a year (just plucked from thin air but I don't think that's too mental as a mix of subscription model and courting larger single donors) and give cash to subsidise things the owners are working on anyway, it limits their exposure and keeps them in driving seat. I think that would be too compelling to be ignored.

Issues start when demands start getting made on specific unworkable control in exchange for this money. It needs to be articulated and firmly around giving the club a safety net for the decades to come and can't become a channel for usual types of (not totally unjustified grievances). If done well and gathered legitimacy, I actually think the owners would be quite willing to be quite generous in the future as they could probably play around with the figures and be generous in gifting shares or cash for a few decent headlines.

Not with that attitude anyway.

I just think it’s total pie in the sky mate. Why would the ordinary DFC fan waste their cash, on buying a dilapidated stadium, that requires round the clock maintenance.
Also if FPS walked away tomorrow, we’d by f**ked, whether  we, as fans owned Dens or not.

Most of us can understand the range of thoughts & suggestions, introduced by this Topic (whether we agree or can make sense of them)

On a very basic level to put any plan of "Buy-Back" in action, we need at he minimum, the "Will & the Means" and for the many fan/supporters, it could be because of the struggle of recent times (on the general finance, as well as football front) we are lacking in both areas.

Without being political, there must be many struggling families (out of work, poor health, or on very low incomes) who are genuinely concerned/worried, when it's now become a choice, between food on the table or heat in the house. And even the DFC die-hard fans of long standing are having to realise, their regular, weekly trip to see the team they so much love, simply has to be "put on hold"

The dropping crowds reflect that. The present form of Dundee in it's precarious position does not help ....

(Although one affects the other...Catch 22 & all that)

I  think the present financial issues in the last paragraph (as well as other issues raised  by other posters) means any posibility of "Fans Buying Dens" will never happen ..."Those who Pay the Piper Pick the Tune"

It's bad enough not liking the choice of songs.

But it's a bigger worry when the music stops!!

It may be, we are all worrying needlessly & TK & JN are simply "working through" the unexpected "problems & delays" that are genuinely affecting their long term ambitions & plans for DFC (Stadium & Club)

But we will never know, if there is nothing, in the way of regular dialogue & communication.

So I am asking..."Begging" if it makes you feel better JN.

Why not share your plans, dreams, ambitions for Our Club?

Maybe we're not Sleeping Giants you expected/ hoped for.

But We Love Our Club...WORKING AS ONE WE CAN DO IT.
