The team who just humped Celtic over two legs.. are they that more financially backed? are their players so much better than average SPFL players? Norwegian league is hardly ground breaking, or, in my limited knowledge, that high grade....the question is, are we so  conditioned that the two cheeks are so revered and the focal point of Scottish media, is, that the other clubs are so on the back foot and psychologically on losing wicket before we ever start?

Totally agree with this, particularly the media part- keep going back to Sunday on Radio Scotland- was incredible how much attention they got.

I think the Scandinavian leagues benefit from not having one team or two teams that dwarf the rest of the clubs financially like we do. The leagues are so much more competitive. They also benefit from not being right next to the richest league in the world. I think Scottish clubs struggle to build squads capable of beating the Old Firm regularly in cups and in the league because either Celtic or Rangers pinch your best players, or they move to the lower leagues in England for 2 or sometimes 3 times their salary. I think I read that Bodo had a turnover that matched roughly what you would expect from Hibs, Hearts or Aberdeen.

Open-ness to new ideas is also a big part of Norweigan / Scandanavian football.  When you look at the managerial appointments (the likes of Ian Burchnall at Viking (Norway) and Ostersunds (Sweden), or Graham Potter prior to him at Ostersunds - now Brighton head coach) they're better.  ETA - The likes of Rasmus Ankersen getting in to roles of Chairman at Midtyjlland is a real cultural shifter and someone who has studied and focused on "goldmines" and other non-traditional developments.

Looking at the game play side of football, they're also much more likely to try to play an open form of football, with focus on data and analytics.  Danish football was the first to lead the new wave of set-piece focus with FC Midtyjlland hiring analytics staff to confirm their beliefs with data, then employing set-piece coaches and analysis staff.

The leagues themselves are essentially leagues of 3-7th place SPFL Prem teams, but with the freedom to play which largely comes from their view that German football is more exciting and representative of the sport in 2022.

And they don't have the huge disadvantage of having 'shared' TV stations which are only interested in English games. It's ALL Norway. There is complete disinterest amongst the TV companies in Scottish football -  result:- no real TV Money worth talking about coming I to the Scottish game. As far as the BBC goes, we don't even have the guarantee of Sportscene results EVERY Saturday any more unless there's a full schedule of games. We have the English match reports, as if we really want that!

Non-League clubs in England can build new stadiums as even they get more TV than us plebs up here.

TV rules, ( and has ruined) Scottish football.

If you think you know more about the game than a set of international women players, who have A and B licences as coaches, I hate to tell you, but you're on a different planet mate.  I'm sure your sexist nonsense would be welcome on other sites though.

The Norwegians are more obsessed with the EPL than any other nation I know! It’s all they talk about when it comes to football. Their “home” teams come second mostly.

If you watch it you should pay your licence fee. Do you dodge tax as well?  If we all dip out of fiscal contributions the country would fall apart.

Quite some rant about England and English football.

There's literally tonnes of Scottish football coverage on TV the last few years on BBC, BBC Scotland, BBC Alba, Sky Sports, BT Sports (until the deal ended, but still show the Euro games), Premier Sports. League, Scottish cup, international, womens football etc.

No idea why we're comparing it to a country with nearly 10 times our population.

They may have coaching certificates, but their punditry is at schoo leaving certificate standard. Not sexist, just accurate!!
