Am sure Bowyer did call him out. I think Nelms is useless. Has not a clue how to run a football club. Basically he is our director of football and all the other directorial roles too. I don't think Strachan has enough influence.

I very much doubt he would have planned Gardyne.

We were almost thrown out last season.  Think we have until the end of this season. Or at least that's how it stood after the issue was resolved,

Got shot down for that one. Unfortunately I misread the intentions of my source and blabbed on here without fully considering the potential consequences. Still believe that we were served notice prior to some kind of agreement being reached. I think we'll be hoping that the new training complex happens as planned because I don't think, going on previous information, that we're any kind of Gardyne fixtures.

I can handle getting beat. It’s the only guarantee in sport, at some point you will lose. It’s the manner of the defeats and the relentless kicks in the nuts that come with being a Dundee fan that really grind you down.  Back to back 6-0 pumpings, 3 from 3 defeats to Ross fckn County, worst GA in the country and on track for a top flight record, the pitch fiasco last year, a consistently shyte run of managers, all against a backdrop of playing in the second tier just as much as the top tier for the last 30 years.
I would just like us to be boring for a few years. 7-9th place finishes in the top tier and maybe the odd cup semi. I don’t think that’s too much to ask!

Brilliant post , and all the disappointments and embarrassments, false dawns ,  we have a fantastic and loyal support , amazing actually given all this , and so often .

Does grind a bit though for all that , still get these fans going ,when things are going not too bad , variations of ' get off your ar*e and support this team  , they deserve better etc etc , which they likely do , but it's the not taking into account , the cost , but more importantly the incessant let downs and disappointments , can see why fans get so fed up and stop bothering, and frankly lose trust in the club as we never ever seem to have that peaceful boring spell , like a motherwell/ Kilmarnock etc, our next haunting embarrassment is usually right around the corner , and has been like this for decades ,  very fortunate we have the loyal fans we do ,  and we deserve so much better.

I'm not one to call for the manager's head; I would give them more time to turn things around. I was hoping this slump in form was just a bad patch. However, after hearing various stories, whether they are true or not, I believe the manager needs to go now.

Fair point about McGhee, I guess he probably would have been kept on.

Scary amateurism yet again, embarrassing

Kirkwood arrived in June 2024 so not sure how much involvement he had in the summer transfers.

Would be typical of Dundee to create a new Management position with the grandiose job title and salary of Head of Recruitment and that person not be involved in the 3 month summer transfer window.

Don't believe it though.

You realise that 'Head of Recruitment' is just a fancy way of saying chief scout right?

It's not actually a management position.

Gardiner was fully behind the John Brown appointment and it was Bill Colvin that swooped for Hartley so Nelms' first appointment was McCann.

There's a whole barrowload of stuff to criticise Nelms for, but criticising him for something that never happened based on an assumption is not one.

I've assumed nothing, the decision making and planning this year have been exactly as I said embarrassingly awful and amateur.

It is a great  pity for us  that Bill Colvin wasn't living much closer to Dundee. And it was him who selected Hartley, not John  Nelms. I was of the opinion that Nelms' direct picks were McCann, McPake and McIntyre , which doesn't say much for his judgement.  We would have been in a much better place with BC running the football club as part of FPS. The club/fan relationship would be much better as well. But as they say, if my auntie had b..... uncle.

I have no idea why people bother to watch manager's interviews anyway.

Unless it's a full head's gone like Adams or Kettlewell.
