As I suspected, Byrne's ability is going to rocket every time he doesn't play and we get pumped 😄

I'd certainly be experimenting with something different if I were Bowyer as it's looking increasingly clear that it's not working.

If McCowan is out for an extended spell and he doesn't fancy McGinn then it's time to go to the 3-5-2 that he keeps hinting at.

Here's how I'd line us up for the next game:

                            Legzdins

           McGhee -- Ashcroft -- French

Kerr                                                               Marshall

McGowan -- Any CM -- Mulligan

                      Rudden -- Robinson

I say any CM, but I'd like it to give Robertson a chance since it's League One opposition, Bowyer would probably go for Grayson but there's also Anderson. Not including Byrne since he doesn't seem to be an option.

Not saying this is the answer necessarily, but Bowyer keeps mentioning the 3 at the back, Sweeney had an absolute mare, people saying McGhee isn't a CM, Robinson looks like the only bright spot tonight and with McCowan injured and McGinn unfancied, I think this would be the logical choice.

There's decent logic in that. However, even on a screen the space between the full backs and CHs is enough to keep me awake until Tuesday 🙂

Swerving the Falkirk game.

The price for 3 of us, a firestick and a £5k car repair bill means cash is just a wee bit tight!.😟

£10 and £5 for concessions

At least those wide in the back 3 are mobile enough to cover a fair amount of ground. Those two are the only two I would feel comfortable enough playing in a back 3. Also means Ashcroft/Sweeney playing in the middle of the back 3 don’t have to worry about bringing the ball out from the back. Neither are particularly strong with the ball at their feet.

What would your set up be?

I'm struggling to find any that wouldn't have flaws with this set of players. I do think it has the potential to be a powerful one in the Championship though. Maybe not though. Only one way to find out!

There's no easy answer to this precisely because of the squad limitations you adhere to.

I don't see the value in going with a back 3 though, for 2 reasons -

Neither Kerr or Marshall offer anything near enough going forward to give justified reason to drop McMullan and McGinn/McCowan.

Neither Kerr and Marshall can transition defensively in this system. They are not athletic or quick enough.

They just aren't wing backs.

A 4 2 3 1 is probably the best bet with this squad, as long as we can get a striker that is physical enough to compete for space and is aggressive in the box.

I agree on Legzdins though, he needs to start.

Legzdins

Kerr French Ashcroft Marshall

Anderson McGowan/McGhee

McMullan Mulligan McCowan

Robinson.

I suspect Bowyer will make major changes however so that won't be the team.

Either way, we've got a mid table squad as it stands. When you break down the striking options and perennial overload of bang average midfielders it's quite worrying.

FFS Ashcroft up front?, I think you're being a wee bit harsh on Byrne.😁

Could we have a list of the players and a poll set up? I find it interesting to see the supporters team and compare it with the managers one?

Speaking about Hartley. He seems to be having an absolute horror show at Hartlepool so if Bowyer doesn't work out, y'know. 👀
