One thing that won't help you sleep is the new Partick mascot. It's the stuff of nightmares.

Time do you need to get up each day Andee?

I've been guilty of going to my bed far too late for years now but going to bed at the back of 9 at the latest sounds really early unless you've to be up for 5 or 6am? Just my opinion though. It's probably a much more sensible time to go to bed than I do!

I go to my bed around 1am most nights and get out of bed at the back of 8am. Lucky if I sleep half that amount though due to interupted sleep.

I've vowed for years to go to bed earlier (midnight would be early for me these days) but I just can't seem to break the habit and prefer sleeping in the morning (not ideal when you work full time) than the first half of the night lol.

I'm up at half 6 each and everyday and on a job run of sleep will be in bed about 10. Usually just after the news headlines. If I go to bed earlier, no matter how tired I am, I'm f**ked and up at 2

Hi Andee,

I've been through a few bouts of this myself. It's a horrible thing  - frustrating and depressing. I used to have a pretty good idea of when it was going to be a bad night as I felt a bit anxious, like my brain wasn't going to switch off.

There have been a lot of good suggestions, some of which I've used in the past.

I find that, if my head's buzzing with things, having a pen and paper by the bed helps. I can then write things down and know they won't be forgotten about come morning.

Also, I make it an absolute rule that I turn the alarm clock so it's facing the wall and to never look at it  during the night, no matter how long it's taking to get to sleep. It's not easy to do but knowing how long you've got left until morning never helps you to drift off.

Earplugs can also help. As the night went on, if i' wasn't sleeping I'd become more stressed and start to notice every little noise. Wearing earplugs means that I can relax completely, knowing no noises are going to disturb me.

Good luck and hope you get it sorted.

Hi Andee,

You maybe do not need as much sleep as you think.

Usually five hours sleep is enough for me but after a busy night when the brain is still in overdrive ,I sometimes have a cheeky wee glass of red wine which normally sets me towards the land of nod.....try it until your sleep patterns are back to normal....but be warned...Stay off the cheese pieces as this is sure to give you nightmares if you do fall asleep....Cheese is bad!!!!

Well that's me managed 2 hours of disturbed sleep and have now been wide awake since 0240! Another few decent suggestions above that I will try from tomorrow and hopefully get some better results!

Thanks again for the feedback!

Hi Andee,

Possibly but I feel I need 8 hours minimum. Any less and I can feel myself struggling the next day. Again perhaps my body just needs adjusted to it.

Further to my own advice.....I do like to take things easy between the hours of 7am and 3.30 pm........just don't mention that tae my boss!

don't we all! As long as you know how to look extremely busy at the right time! I find carrying paper everywhere and whenever someone speaks to you always say "hang on a second please" and pretend to be thinking. This will stop them questioning what you are doing. Works a treat with my boss anyway!

Well another night has passed that I have had no sleep at all, not a single minute! This has been happening at least 3 nights a week for the past 6 months and has happened the last 2. I'll be at my work in 2 hours like a bloody zombie!

Nothing has happened in this period that would cause stress or worry and there has been no major changes. If anything the household finances have improved due to her new job and my promotion although not a great deal! My promotion has actually allowed me to slightly reduce my workload and I am home at half 5 every night to bath the kids and have tea with the wife.

No relationship issues. In fact again the opposite. At the risk of sounding cheesy my wife is my best friend and we have a healthy sex life!

Really is getting to the stage that I am barely able to function for large periods of time yet the Dr always puts it down to some form of stress etc and just wants to prescribe anti depressants. Everyone close to me feels this is lazy advice as they agree I am far from depressed! Just can't bloody sleep!

Does anyone have similar issues? Have you managed to deal with similar? Any hints, tips or advice you think would benefit?

I work 12hr shifts,days,nights & wk-ends.

I'm still skint.

I have to cycle to & from work ana.

Sex life??????,non existent.

Stressed up to my tits.

Days aff when abody's else's at work.

Sleep like a F3ckin log.

I'M no Doctor but I don't think you're getting enough stress!!!!!.
