He is of course entitled to time off but why choose the weekend of a cup quarter-final to get away? There are no shortage of weekends in the year when Dundee aren't involved in a big game.

The club he presides over is in crisis. We're 2/7 to finish bottom and if St Johnstone win their next two very winnable home games we're as good as down.

It seems very likely he's left the country to escape the heat, a tactic used by a number of former DFC owners in the past during a time of crisis.

Yip, try and get time off in term time if you are a teacher.

I think nelms is a sasij as much as the next person but the man's entitled to time off.

Beat him with whatever criticism you want but this isn't one of them.

Whit?!

When you're on a £120k+ salary and solely responsible for the running of the club, you don't take time off when your responsibility is in the quarter finals of a national tournament. He's got plenty of opportunities to take time off in the close season, during the week in general or during international breaks.

I would disagree that the CEO needs to be at the club on matchday. If the job is done reasonably well and there's a good leadership team, you shouldn't notice them missing and nothing urgent should really be disrupted by that. The nature of the job I would expect it to be pretty full throttle most of the summer and working schedule around different things so not surprised some match days would be missed for holiday days or other business.

It's the fact that it seems a void exists at the club rather than someone potentially taking personal time IMO.

He is only doing what most others did yesterday, team playing crap, chance to avoid the bile from the scum visitors.

And who is responsible for any void at the club? Nelms?

He gets paid £120k a year from the club for the privilege though. I expect him to be there.

Just saw that it was a meeting with Macron in Italy, which at least makes sense.

Does this mean Macron are planning on switching their stadium naming sponsorship from Bolton to Dundee?

Where do you find out his salary? I remember reading on here a while back it was £50k although that could've been a complete guess too.

New strip deal or stadium sponsorship or even funding for new stadium with naming rights for a long long time?

Bet their hospo at the rugby was decent.

If he had fronted up to the press conference after he appointed MMG, then I might have forgiven him a day off for the QUARTER FINAL of the SCOTTISH CUP AT HOME. For which he knew there would be next to no home fans there.

But then again. NO.
