Just seen the banner hanging in the main stand, can't read it though.

It says "Keyes help or go home."

Tried to explain to people how the word Jock is used as a racist term particularly when living abroad and mostly by English people.

Words like Jock, Paddy, Taff and even Geordie or Scouser at times are usually preceded by 'thick' or followed by 'c*nt' or 'twat'. Blatant racism but ask them and it's just banter - call them a thick English c*nt though and it becomes a different story for some reason.

To call someone from Texas a Yank just shows complete ignorance.

Yep..as I said in my post such terms are usually classed as a term of endearment when folk are challenged.  It's interesting there isn't really an equivalent for English people - Nigels maybe but it isn't all that common. I wonder why?

The word Yanks is not used in this banner. It was designed by a guy who lived in USA for 25 years and knows US history better than most and even gives talks on the US civil War.

Wasn't it Yanks originally and then changed to Keyes?

A quick Wikipedia check certainly suggests it may have a negative connotation -

"The shortened form Yank is used as a derogatory, pejorative, playful, or colloquial term for Americans in Britain,[45] Australia,[46] Canada,[47] South Africa,[48] Ireland,[49] and New Zealand.[50] The full Yankee may be considered mildly derogatory, depending on the country."[5

I have friends in Texas and Florida, and I normally say 'You Yanks' just to play with them (In a nice way) and I normally get back 'Well you English people!'.

I think people seem to jump on the "I'm offended bandwagon too easily these day's". For me, it cannot be about just the word, it has to be the use and the context of the word in a sentence.

I remember when I lived in London, English people would get offended when I called them Sassenach. I would normally do this after them repeatedly calling me 'Jock'. I would point out to them later, Sassenach is a Scots word for "Saxon, Englishman or lowlander" and it is not a derogatory word like 'Jock'.

Totally this.

And the context of the word Yank in the poster is offensive IMO, albeit mildly.
