How do we know it was him who decided that we should get rid of Curtis Main and bring nobody else in?

TD said he had to balance the books. I'm not sure there's a manager out there who decides to release an experienced player in a relegation battle to leave himself short of players in that position and an injury and/or suspension away from a crisis. I'm just not believing that Docherty made that call off of his own back.

I know what you’re saying, and completely agree but there might have been an aspect of discussion rather than isolated decision making - we don’t know, which was more of my point about slating Nelms based on assumptions . It could have been get rid of Main (who really was not much more than a bench warmer) to finance the Donnelly deal including TD’s input on where he thought the priority was. Let’s also not forget that in terms of options up front, Main’s departure also coincided with Reilly’s return (albeit different styles of player) but for all we were getting from Main at the time, it was perhaps a more logical decision than we give it credit for with benefit of hindsight.

I don't think the club or management team saw us in a relegation battle. From what I can make out, they still don't. That's what's worried me for months now. Literally sleepwalking to the championship

Based on his comments on the BBC website, he seems well aware we are in a relegation battle.

Yep you could be right, I considered that but JN is probably an easy target. Often when people say nothing, as is often the case with JN, their critics form assumptions based on a perception rather than any real evidence. JN maybe gets a raw deal for this reason but the jury can't decide.

Pretty much everyone in the bottom 6 is in a relegation battle because the league is so tight. The manager and players maybe won't say so publicly but they'll be well aware.

I don't know if these headlines are clickbait or not as they are behind a paywall. But if Tony Doherty has made these comments then I would have serious concerns for his sanity.

Couple days ago he headline was that Simon Murray should be targeting a Scotland call up. I'm sorry I love Simon Murray and what he brings but if you genuinely believe at 33 is going to get anywhere near a Scotland squad then you are absolutely fu*king off your rocker.

Secondly the headline today is that he has denied we are in a relegation battle. If he genuinely believes that to be true then he needs fu*king help. We are 3 points off bottom, have won one league game this year, in the form guide over the last 5, 10 and 25 games we are bottom of league, over last 15 we are 11th and over last 20th we are 10th. We have conceded 61 goals in 29 games and while we were free scoring earlier in the season the goals have dried up. We have only scored 4 goals in our last 6 league games which makes winning fu*king impossible when you concede over 2 goals a game.

I like Tony Doherty but if genuinely believes we are not in a relegation battle then he needs to seek immediate professional help.

He's said in The Courier today that he doesn't believe we are in a relegation battle.

I like Tony Doc, have always defended him on here and I think there is potentially still something in him as a manager, but some of the stuff he has come out with recently is grating.

The moans about the 'pull' on Portales v Aberdeen and the Motherwell 2nd goal being offside. The Murray stuff is nonsense.

If he doesn't think we are in a relegation battle we are done for. The difference in mentality between us and St Johnstone right now is frightening.

I know he is trying to take pressure of the team by making these comments but it's getting cringeworthy now

He is becoming a journalists dream 😔

This might sound harsh, but I don't TD is the brightest button in the box, and I think these latest comments re Murray and the relegation situation and boldly stating that we'll be alright, are just a wee bit worrying.

Puir Tony...His recent Statements & Comments, are making me wonder , if he's still touting, for the Vacant Position of, Deputy Leader of the Happy Clappy Club...Weel, sorry Meh Freend, as President of the "afore mentioned" (Still, self-elected, mind) I've got to say, after a short conversation with our remaining 5 members (And that includes yourself, my 5 Inner Voices) at this time sadly, you are unikely to receive a Call from us, re this empty position.

More seriously TD, although, it's tough for all of us Loyal DFC Fans & Supporters, I think we all want you to succeed.

Our back (& his back) is against the wall. For Our Club, Ourselves, Manager, Mon Players, be Proud And Do It:chaplin:

Looks like Doc is turning into McGhee , not only by his terrible management skills but now due to his bizarre comments.

What’s next? Will he be threatening to run about naked?
