He came in from nowhere and hardly kicked a ball in pro football again. Hard not to take a cynical view of that incident.

After his very short pro appearances McDonald played for Riverside Athletic in the Midlands League

Nelms brought in McPake, McIntyre and McGhee and attempted to bring in the much disliked Dodds, he also sacked managers after a period of what for us would equate to relative success. He's currently overseeing what's been a pretty calamitous summer after appointing a man who wasn't most people's 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice never mind 1st as JN has stated. He's not even a true Dee yet many are happy because he and his partner cover an annual financial shortfall. Gellatly made mistakes no doubt but we only know that with the benefit of hindsight, Jim McLean was far from an instant success across the road although what he did put them firmly on the map and left us trailing in their wake.

A true Dee or a Texan with little time for us?.🤔

A great what if of history is what if Bill Colvin had remained longer as chairman.

Neither Di Stefano or Melville ever owned the club, the latter never even owned a share.

Peter & Jimmy had ambitions to catapult the club forward, which is what everyone cries out for here on a daily basis. It went south but at least they tried and potentially had they continued with Jocky (or anyone other than Ivano who fans still sing about now and again) and consolidated with a slow build it would have been a whole different landscape.

Pete and Jimmy were totally conned by that idiot Di Stefano.

I have just watched the podcast with Si Murray and the manager. I have to say that Stephen Pressley comes over as an intelligent considered guy. I see a bit of passion and attachment in him as well, but his inference is that it is a much bigger job than he thought (or was, so presumably led to believe). Murray speaks well of the changes being implemented. I have watched them train a number of times and there seems to be a theme  in the work. Plus there is a lot of physical graft. I was delighted to hear him screaming during one set play exercise  for the players involved to be much more aggressive. Whilst I would not have thought about him as a candidate, I think that we have done OK in getting him in.  If he gets the proper backing, I have few worries about his contribution.

Could it be that it is a bigger job than he thought because Doc left a shit show behind him and the players were not at the levels of fitness and football knowledge that he was expecting to find?

Has this changed Pessley's priorities and level of player he is looking to recruit.

There will definitely be an element of that. And the fact that we allowed so many proven players to leave at one go, leaving him to pick up the pieces. He says that he is adapting his plans to suit the players'  capabilities, rather than having them try to do what they are not suited to, which maybe the Doc tried too often.  That to me is a good thing and will get more out of them.  I quite like the way he is going about things so far.

Good, because any new owners surely can't be as bad as the current ones.

Can they?

Careful what you wish for .

I'm not a happy clapper , I'm far from happy at the lack of signings being made and i didn't think it was right to sack Doc let alone appoint SP . Personally I think  pre season has been a shambles , at least that's how it looks from the outside .

In saying all that though I still think  some of the criticism of the current owners is a bit OTT .

I think we need to cast our minds back to exactly where we had been and where we were as a club prior to the Americans arrival not just in terms of what we were seeing on the pitch but in terms of stability ,  future plans and even the academy .

Has Nelms made mistakes and rankled people along the way , without a doubt , is he perfect , far from it , do I always agree with his decision most certainly not .

He has also backed every single manager that has taken the post  and while you can argue some of the appointments haven't been great others have, by and large , had the backing of the fans at the time and even proven to be good appointments and that's probably a fair hit rate id say .

We don't yet know what funds have been made available to SP , its all guess work at the moment because nobody has came in but that may also be down to the fact the manager / recruitment team hasn't seen enough to suggest these targets are value for money or going to add anything better than we already have .

Time will tell but as for now all we can do is wait and see and hope that as has been the case with every other appointment the new head coach get good backing to build a side .

What i would say is , if the Americans up and left tomorrow i very much doubt there will be any  knight in shining armour ready to step in and make us great again .
