I was just wondering if there's any reason we don't use tarpaulins to cover the areas most affected by flooding?

I'd imagine any rainwater is going to pool at the lowest point?. Covers won't help at the Derry corner I wouldn't imagine but I could be wrong.

Not sure covering a localised area would solve it mate. It seems that all the pitch drains lead to the at corner before “leaving” dens into the main waterway/drainage system.

If rumours are to be believed the problem is further down dens road where the problem lies, which doesn’t allow water away quick enough and it backs up all the way. Hard to imagine that if that’s the case that something hasn’t been done about by now as it seems to have been an issue for around 3 years now.

Would say the rumours are more than likely fact. My first flat in my late teens was on Dens Road and even then when it rained heavy the street flooded rapid and that was over 10 years ago. Even now, driving on Dens Road during heavy rain is like needing a boat.

Other than that corner, the rest of the pitch seemed to drain perfectly and the pitch itself was still carpet like at the end of the game despite the amount of rain that was on it. The ball didn't bounce perfect but their was no real hold up in the ball at all and a good game was still played. The Robertson deserve massive credit for that. I did enjoy when Motherwell were attacking the Shankly they weren't as enthusiastic, shall we say, about clearing that corner until the assistant ref had a word!

It would be grand to get that corner sorted but it don't think there is much that can be done if the issue (which I am confident it is) is under Dens Road itself.

I am sure the problems the arabs had with their pitch was in the same corner. Sheer coincidence or linked to the Dens Road drainage problems? Are there any drainage problems on the Kingsway next to Cineworld? Checking for the future 😉

This part of the pitch has been a flooding problem for years, goes way way back.   I am not not sure how to post a pic but if you google old scottish football Dens park 1936 there is a Dee player taking a corner in a puddle.
