Dundee Civic Trust tearing the Camperdown plans apart!! Genuine concerns or the usual nimby scaremongering? Wonder if any DABs running the Civic Trust or just reacting to objections from DABs? I just love a good conspiracy theory.

Where were they during the years of consultation

Nelms said the £40 million figure it in a few interviews last year (implication he made was £40m on the football part of the project then a much bigger £100m on the rest).

I guess any Dundee FC specific ownership would be very dependent on what rental agreement FPS decide and the club are at their mercy. I'd hope that there would be something in there to give some path to some future ownership (even if it's a whole generation off, I'd rather the club are run sustainably and gradually get some assets back).

The cynic in me says that no business person is doing this deal without at least keeping cards back to ramp up the rent in the future if things go badly wrong (even if they are genuine)...

IF the stadium goes ahead I think it might be a mortgage rather than a rental agreement. Nelms has consistently mentioned some numbers so I'm wondering if there might be a real long term agreement where we eventually own our own home again.

Reduce speed limit from Myrekirk eastbound to 40mph and introduce a variable message sign on approach from Myrekirk thereby reducing the risk of accidents.
Signalise the junction at Harrison Road / Coupar Angus Road which could be phased to deal with football traffic at peak times.

Or divert football traffic from Myrekirk up past Asda and along in front of Camperdown and create a one way access from the old road that runs at the back of the BP garage onto the site (may require a little more land take at the area around the underpass)
I am sure these options and more have been discussed with Transport Scotland and their feedback has been incorporated.

I am pretty sure that the planning application wouldn’t have got this far without getting feedback from all parties and solutions agreed.

Probably a bit of both. Their role (ok maybe self appointed) is to make sure things are done ‘properly’ and they have to look out for the city as a whole. Some of their concerns seem genuine - I tend to agree that cinema, ice rink and food places are going to struggle during home games as fans fill their car park. Maybe offset a little for MaccyDs etc as fans may stop on their way out. Some of their other complaints are a bit of a stretch tho.

My issue with these sort of things is objectors never propose a solution. I get that it’s not their role to suggest improvements but it does come across as nimbyism. It’s easy just to say that’s shyte and that won’t work, I’d prefer if it was more collaborative and they offered some suggestions.

Also the Trust have no names no pack drill in the articlei step up DCC and lets hear who you are and your backgrounds. I believe Stephen Brand is a lawyer,

It’s surely not beyond the ingenuity of planners, civil engineers and the city fathers to overcome a bit of temporary congestion around the new stadium. There’s a lot of tribal negativity and no can do attitude being shown towards an exciting project for the Football Club and City. After all we are only talking about an event that takes place on average every two weeks for eight months of the year.

Why not? The Kingsway is 70mph only from Invergowrie to Myrekirk Road, 50mph from Myrekirk Road to Tesco and the remainder is 40mph already. No-one will notice.

As for carbon, surely it's just being transferred from Provost Road,  Dens Road and the other road which shall remain unmentionable.

Any carbon generated in building 'Campy' will be offset by demolition of Dens and subsequent rebuilding of whatever replaces it?

This sounds like a weak addition to make a stronger case.

It will be a mess for the first few games, DCT will do click bait, people will be up in arms about the ‘chaos’ then after a few games people will figure out where to park, what roads to avoid and when to travel and it will all settle down to be the same as it was with Dens and every other town in the UK that has a football ground.

And yet, it never will because the stadium will never happen.

Haven't read this group I've never heard of's objections but if they're moaning about F'kn carbon then I'll give them a swerve as they sound like a bunch of woke do gooders. They'll maybe glue themselves to the roads outside Campy in protest.🙄

"woke" is so overused. It seems to be used against anyone who cares about something that "the other side" doesn't.

But Switzerland is 600 meters above sea-level (and landlocked) so I'll be fine 🤣
