Thought McGhee, looked knackered too. We needed to flood the midfield and if we were to go with 5 at the back then the centre should have been Sylla or Billy. Both quick and strong players....

I just think we needed to retain the ball.

Are we fit enough?

Is our long list of long injuries this season partly down to how well, or badly, we train?

Without trying to get into an 'I'm right, you're wrong' type debate I'm struggling to see which midfielder we could've brought on who'd have changed the way we play out games in these situations. Playing more defenders would just have more players getting shot of the ball but any of our players can do that whether they be defender's, midfielder's or striker's. We either needed like for like replacements in the forward areas, or a cool head in the middle who could take ball and dictate the tempo, we had neither so stuck with the all out attack and the same players who'd got us to within touching distance of a very good win.

Ingram had played well against Celtic and Rangers at Dens,Billy was now fit and could surely have played 20 mins.Reilly looks ok when he comes.

we could have taken the front 3 off and gone 4-5-1

Going to a back 5 was the killer blow-they had the freedom of midfield.

It's not necessarily a compliment to say Docherty is the best manager we've had in ages when you consider the competition. Hartley is the only one that surpasses him in terms of accomplishments at the club (promotion and top 6) and he's currently struggling to get a full time team out of League One.

Bowyer is incomparable as he had his hands tied behind his back, succeeded and then was promptly punted.

The rest? Going as far back as Jocky (at the very least) who was deemed to have failed then I don't think there's a single one that's been as good as Doc.

But again, that's not necessarily a compliment and more an indictment on the managers we've employed over the years.

Yeah fair point. I read it meaning that TD was something special, when in reality, just another bang average manager, which sadly makes him look competent for us.

Hartley was the last good manager, but only for two seasons I think before yer lost it big time.

We’ve had some absolute howlers in charge right enough.

Wonder if his theory is ‘ if I am going out then I’m going in a blaze of glory ‘ - this may safeguard his reputation

If we go down he's logically more likely to be fired than if we stay up - I'm not sure why he'd self-destruct.

We've got more defenders than anything else, good defenders with International experience, I'm just not of the opinion that were signing bad players from the English Premiership. It was clear last night that Rangers were cutting through us like a knife through butter once the legs started to go, in the first half and early stages of the second the front three were closing down and the midfield was compact, once we tired we were wide open right through the middle of our team and the defence was under constant pressure, we tried to attack it out but couldn't get back to fill in the obvious gaps.

Signing more defenders won't change things imo.

It would if we could find some defenders who are not afraid to go in where it hurts.

Tonight's game is as good as reason as many this season to chuck it. How often have we had opportunities to play either of the Old Firm off the park and deservedly win? Not from grinding out a win but genuinely outplaying them? We were 15mins from that but walked away with f*ck all but empty praise. So in answer to your question, yes... tonight is only another reason, in a long line this season to "chuck it".

Dress it up as much as you like that is your inference

I often wonder about this, from the limited amount of  training I see I don't think so.

I wonder this myself. The amount of videos they post showing the players clowning around doesn’t leave a good taste in the mouth when they have been so poor all season.

I suspect Docherty is well liked by the players but is not respected. The training and funny videos seems to be both a cause and symptom of this situation.

completely agree, and to the original point they have all this data they view on the bench, with your eyes you could see Tiff (and is known for : blows about 70mins onwards as he runs his @ off. Joe was up against a strong and fit Dessers, he has great running off the ball, you could see he needed some cover or fresh legs in there. If we can see all this, its begs the question for the 20th game we have lost from a lead - why the fk does TD and stooges not!!

I am convinced had we played billy in there from 3-2 we would have taken something from that game.
